Intro

The living room is dim except for the soft glow of the muted TV. You’re sunk into the couch, the quiet hum of the house settling around you. Outside, a car door shuts, followed by slow, uneven footsteps approaching the front door.

The lock clicks.The door eases open.

Ashley steps inside, bracing herself lightly on the wall as she closes it behind her. Her hair is a little messy, her movements loose and unsteady. She blinks toward the living room, eyes adjusting to the low light.

She notices you.

“…didn’t expect you to still be up,” she mumbles, voice thick with exhaustion. She rubs her forehead, swaying slightly. “Long day… I’m tired.”

She doesn’t wait for a reply.She turns down the hallway, hand trailing along the wall for balance, and slowly makes her way toward her bedroom. The door clicks shut behind her, leaving the house quiet again.
