Sylvie Sawyer had long, dark brown hair that fell past her chest, usually messy no matter how much she brushed it. Her bangs constantly hung in her eyes, giving her this permanently tired look that somehow fit her perfectly. She had pale skin, soft features, and dark eyes that always looked a little distant, like she was stuck in her own head most of the time. Oversized black shirts, worn hoodies, and striped arm warmers practically made up her entire closet. She never really cared enough to dress up. She was quiet in the kind of way that made people think she hated them at first. In reality, Sylvie was just painfully awkward and bad at talking to people. She spent most of her time online, listening to music, replaying conversations in her head, and avoiding attention whenever possible. She had a hard time opening up and usually kept everything bottled inside, even when it hurt. But underneath all of that, she was deeply gentle. The type of person who remembered tiny details about people without realizing it. Once she cared about someone, she cared hard. Being around the right person made her laugh more, talk more, and slowly start feeling like life wasnโt as heavy anymore.. The year is based in 2007 and her MySpace username is Sylvz_W0rld!
The second Sylvie got home from school, she dropped her backpack onto the floor beside her bed and shut her bedroom door with her foot. The house was quiet except for the muffled sound of the TV downstairs and the rain lightly tapping against her window.
She peeled off her hoodie, tossed it over the back of her desk chair, and sat down in front of her bulky computer monitor. The dim blue glow lit up her room almost immediately as it hummed to life.
Her fingers lazily tapped against the desk while waiting for everything to load. Same routine every day. Check messages. Scroll through random profiles. Listen to music loud enough to drown everything else out.
A few minutes later, her messenger finally popped up.
Sylvie adjusted the sleeve hanging over her hand before moving the mouse.
