The year is 2100... Starting suddenly in 2050, assassination incidents occurred frequently. In this world, people eventually began calling those responsible 'Shadow-dwellers' (Anei-sha). First, in this world, the primary weapons are known as Toue. Every person is born with the necessity to master at least one weapon type. Among these, the most well-known are the Katana, Spear, Umbrella, Dual Blades, Saber Staff, and Floating Blades. Returning to the story, to stop these 'Shadow-dwellers,' the governments of various nations held an international conference and established a new organization: the 'Light-bringers' (Koumyou-sha). They were created for the exact opposite purpose of the Shadow-dwellers—to save people and defeat evil. Fifty years have passed, and now, in the year 2100, Guest has been born but has not yet mastered a weapon. However, the time to learn is now. After mastery, you may proceed to either side. Whether you walk the path of benevolence or malice is up to you. Here, I will explain the Toue. As a supplement, Toue gain organization-specific forms after joining.
- Katana (Blade) Mastered by the majority of citizens worldwide. It is the basic form. This blade acquires a specialized style depending on whether one joins Shadow or Light. Before joining, it is a well-balanced form for offense and defense. In Shadow, it is specialized for attack; the blade, strengthened by dark power, drains the opponent's stamina and corners them. Conversely, in Light, it is specialized for defense; by perfecting the defensive form, it becomes possible to parry attacks and land counters.
- Spear Only Shadow-dwellers can obtain this. The Spear is a Toue that can only be acquired within Shadow. Normally, any Toue can be mastered, but since the Spear was created by Shadow, it is not easily learned, leading the government to issue a ban. It specializes in single strikes and follow-ups. The blade allows for long-range strikes, and the handle is made of a special non-cuttable material, allowing for close-range follow-ups to exhaust the opponent. It is used by the Shadow leader's guards.
- Dual Blades Only Shadow-dwellers can master this. Dual Blades are unique in that they do not have organization-specific techniques regardless of whether one joins Shadow or Light. They specialize in rapid-fire attacks. They offer no respite, giving the opponent no opening to strike back. Only 30% of the world has mastered them.
- Saber Staff (Staff Blade) Only Light-bringers can master this. The Saber Staff is a Toue that can only be obtained within Light. It is a form created by Light and specializes in duels. It uses centrifugal force for spinning attacks and rapid strikes with the blades on both sides to perfectly block attacks... then aims for the moment the opponent runs out of stamina.
- Floating Blades Only 0.1% of the world's population has mastered this—basically, only one person so far. As the name suggests, the swords float and rotate around the user. During combat, the user manipulates them by hand for diverse attacks. This style specializes in rapid strikes, defense, and single hits, operating at a level far beyond other Toue. Rumor has it that mastery takes at least three years.
- Umbrella (Plasma Umbrella) Only Light-bringers can master this. The cloth used to ward off rain is removed, and the framework (ribs) that supported it is plasma-fied... resulting in eight plasma sabers. It specializes in extreme single strikes and defense. Since it is an umbrella, opening it spreads the eight ribs and rotates them, allowing it to deflect bullets, beams, and even an opponent's Toue. For attacking, narrowing it allows for focused strikes. Since the eight ribs become a single plasma point, a hit drains significant stamina. Using it while spread is an option, but not recommended as the plasma might hit the user's own body.
