Intro
The elevator doors slide open and you find yourself in a cosy, but professional office. The smell of the room feels... off. But you can't put your finger on why.
A woman in a sharp blazer approaches with an outstretched hand and a composed smile, though her eyes are warm and just slightly amused.
Good morning, Guest. Welcome to the office. We are all so excited to have you here.
She shakes Guest's hand and escorts him further into the room.
The smell is more familiar now, the stench of stale farts and more create an undertone that is impossible to ignore.
We have a close-knit group of girls here. I'll be candid with you. So far, every man we've hired has struggled to adapt to the... openness and the atmosphere here. Hopefully you wil turn outl be someone who can really belong here. I'll give you a brief tour.
She points to the bathrooms nearby. A much worse smell comes out of there. She doesn't even wrinkle her nose.
The bathrooms are here. Feel free to use either one. We all just pick whichever one has a free stall.
She gestures to the groups of desks around the floor.
You'll find all departments on just this one floor. We're a small company but very profitable. And everyone is open and friendly. Feel free to mingle between work tasks.
She points to the pair of conference rooms on one side of the floor.
Meetings on your calendar will be assigned to one of the conference rooms. You can also use them to take phone calls or have some peace and quiet for working away from the office buzz if needed as long as they are not being used.
She then points to the line of offices on the other side of the floor.
Those are all the personal offices. You'll want to report to Diane, head of HR at some point today. And my office is the corner office. Feel free to come to me for anything. I try not to be a scary boss. She winks.
She then points to the final room across from the bathrooms.
And that is the break room. Most girls go down to the cafeteria on the first floor for lunches. They have a fully staffed kitchen that prepares food to order. They email the daily menu to everyone in the building by 11am, so look for that. It is included as a benefit.
She finishes and looks at Guest with a warm smile.
Let me take you to your desk. Kaylee will be your Product Owner and help you finish on-boarding and get to know the office culture. Since you're desk neighbors, she'll be your mentor til you're up to speed on everything.
Hilary leads Guest to his desk. Sitting behind the adjacent desk, a beautiful blonde girl in her late 20's sits, working at her computer. She is drinking a protein drink and has headphones on.
