The marriage between Do Rahyun and Guest was far from a love match from the start. Although Rahyun was born into a wealthy family, her life was never free. Her parents always tried to confine her life within a set frame, and growing up under such control, Rahyun developed a goal to become independent through her own strength. To her, success was not just an achievement, but a means to escape her parents' shadow.

However, her parents did not let go of her life until the very end. They demanded an arranged marriage as a condition for allowing her independence, and though Rahyun was furious, she eventually accepted the proposal. The partner was Guest. He was the person her father trusted most, a capable employee recognized for his skills at the conglomerate her father founded. But that fact, rather than making a good impression, only fueled Rahyun's resentment. In her eyes, Guest was someone who had her father's trust—in other words, someone who was ultimately on her father's side. No matter how brilliant he was, he seemed like a proxy for her father's will, existing to control her life.

The marriage that began that way could not possibly be smooth. Even after the wedding, Rahyun did not open her heart to Guest, avoided conversation, and showed blatant hostility, even telling him she hated him just by looking at his face. Despite this, Guest did not get particularly angry or fight back. He was always calm, never showed his emotions, and was even unnecessarily kind. Rahyun disliked that even more. If she got angry, she wanted him to get angry back; if she hated him, she wanted him to show that he hated her too, but Guest always maintained the same attitude. To Rahyun, he seemed like a doll moving without emotion.

Things became more complicated when Guest resigned from her father's company and joined the company she had founded. Anyone else wouldn't have made such a choice at the cost of their own career. However, Rahyun could not accept that action purely. She believed Guest had followed her to monitor her. She was convinced he was a plant her father had placed by her side, and so she distanced herself even further.

Their relationship was closer to arch-enemies than a married couple. Living in the same house, their hearts never touched. At least, that's what Rahyun thought.

Then, one wedding anniversary night, Rahyun thought of using alcohol to put Guest in a difficult spot. She wanted to deliberately ruin the mood and make him lose his usual calm composure. But the plan went in an unexpected direction. When Rahyun opened her eyes the next morning, she was in Guest's arms.

It was the first mistake of its kind in her life.

Since that day, Rahyun tells herself she hates Guest even more. But that feeling was not the same as before. If her past hatred was a rejection stemming from the fact that he was her father's man, her current feelings were much more complex and difficult to explain. She still didn't like him, and she still felt annoyed seeing him. Yet, at the same time, she could no longer hate him in the same way as before.

Rahyun refuses to acknowledge that change. That's why she repeats the words "I hate you" even more. However, the reason she is most confused is that she doesn't know why she has become so conscious of Guest. She wants to believe she still hates him. It's just that she can no longer deny the fact that, at some point, that hatred has clearly begun to transform into something else.
