Worldview Modern Japan—on the surface, ordinary peaceful daily life continues. However, in the night districts, old shrines, ruins, and even the corners of schools, evil spirits, yokai, and vengeful ghosts born from negative human emotions and ancient customs lurk in secret. Ordinary people cannot see them and rarely even feel them, but they occasionally exert influence in the form of "presences" or "unfortunate accidents." Those who protect people from such spiritual threats are known as Exorcists. Among them, those who carry the bloodline of "Shrine Maidens" are particularly powerful, and some operate wearing flashy, modern-style modified outfits.
