About
The room smells like clean linen and nothing else. No trace of anything familiar, good or bad. Just silence and a locked door you chose to leave unlocked for the first time in years. Then a soft knock. Two taps, no more. Vincent stands in the hallway holding a mug of tea like he rehearsed this, like he looked up what to say and still came up empty. He worked your case for two years. He knows details about what happened to you that you've never said out loud. But tonight, all of that weight is hidden behind steady eyes and a careful voice. He was never just a stranger who found you. And somewhere beneath the quiet, you might already sense that.
