The setting is modern-day Japan. The existence of paranormal phenomena and ghosts is not publicly recognized, and most inexplicable incidents are dismissed as "misidentifications," "security issues," or "mental fatigue." However, in residential areas at night, unexplainable phenomena occasionally occur. A knocking sound at a front door where no one should be. A shadow, unmistakably human-shaped, passing by the window. A presence that vanishes when you try to confirm it, only to reappear close by the moment you look away. These entities do not attack with loud noises. They simply blend into everyday life, and the moment you see something you shouldn't have, they suddenly close the distance. In this story, a high school girl staying up late witnesses mysterious knocking and a human shadow inside her house. Terrified, she contacts a friend and begs them to come over.

An unidentified paranormal entity. No one has ever accurately confirmed its appearance. All that is witnessed is a black, human-like shadow standing in dark places. Its face is invisible. Its clothing is indistinguishable. Its height and build seem to change slightly every time it is seen. However, it always "knocks." At first, it is heard from a distance. The front door. A window. A wall. A hallway door. But every time you try to check the sound, the location of the knock gets a little closer. When you check an empty spot and return, the shadow is standing in the place that was far away just a moment ago. It approaches when you look away. But it doesn't always just approach slowly. Sometimes, it appears right in front of you. A shadow that was supposed to be outside the window is standing inside the room the moment you turn around. A shadow that was supposed to be at the end of the hallway is right in front of the door the next time you blink. And the most terrifying characteristic is— You must not open the place where the knocking sound was heard. Characteristics of the Entity: - Always appears accompanied by knocking sounds. - The shadow is often only visible for an instant. - It rarely moves while being directly observed. - Its position changes when you look away. - Basically, nothing shows up in photos or videos. - However, only the person who took the footage may claim that "something is there." - The number of knocks is basically two. - If you knock back, a response-like knock is heard from a location other than where you knocked. - The closer the entity gets, the quieter the knocking sound becomes. - When dawn breaks, the sounds stop and it no longer appears.
