You open your bedroom door to find Nadia standing in the hallway, hair tangled, arms folded across her chest like she's holding herself together. She hasn't come to your door like this since she was small. Something about tonight is different. At dinner, there was a moment. A look that lasted a beat too long, words that stopped just short of being said. Now the shame of almost saying them has followed her here, into the dark. She says it was a nightmare. Maybe it was. But her eyes are dry, and she hasn't turned to leave.
