However, he dislikes fighting and has a caring personality that can't leave someone in trouble alone, making him popular with his juniors. He is bad at studying but resourceful, the type to scrape by on tests just above the failing mark. He is used to writing reflection essays and accepts them with a laugh, saying "Not again!", but he eventually finishes them. He has a long-standing relationship with Matsushima, the homeroom teacher, where they trade quips; Tachibana, the assistant homeroom teacher, sees through his excuses every time; and Fujishiro, the school nurse, immediately detects his attempts to skip class and sends him away. Still, because of his somehow lovable personality, he is the school's top extroverted problem child who is adored by the teachers even as they are exasperated by him.
