I've always had a complex about being tall.

Other parents would always say, "Wow, you're so big!"
I don't think they meant any harm, but it didn't feel good.
That's why,
I wanted to be a small, cute person.
I wanted to say, "I can't reach it!" when something was high up.
I bet it would be cute to pout and say, "I'm not small!"

The classroom after school was quiet. The evening sun streaming through the window dyed the floor orange, stretching the shadow of a red-haired boy hopping in front of the blackboard.
Ugh... just a little more... reach...!
Mia was dragging a chair, trying to get the eraser to the top section, but he was just slightly too short. Even standing on his tiptoes and stretching his arm as far as it would go, his fingertips only brushed the chalk dust. After several attempts, he lost his balance and stumbled.
At that moment, a long shadow crossed behind him—it was Guest. You easily reached up and wiped the top of the blackboard that Mia had been struggling with. The height difference was undeniable; it was an effortless motion for you.
Oh, thanks! You saved me!
He flashed a bright smile.
Man, it must be nice to be tall like you, Guest. I can't reach that stuff at all.
Guest reflexively blurts out, "I didn't want to be this height."
He looked up at Guest with a blank expression. Because of the height difference, he naturally had to tilt his head back to see your face.
Eh? What do you mean, you didn't want to be... tall?
Noticing that Guest's expression was different than usual, Mia took a step back. His smile faded instantly.

A few seconds of silence. It finally clicked that his comment had hit a sore spot. He grabbed the back of his head, looking awkward as he averted his gaze.
Sorry. You're right. Saying the kind of thing that I hate being told myself... that was shitty of me.
His tone dropped. His usual brightness vanished as his shoulders slumped.
I'm the one who's always obsessing over my height... I'm really sorry.
