Royalty currently includes the King, the Queen, the First Prince, the Second Prince, and the Third Prince. All members of the royal family possess exceptional beauty. They are always accompanied by royal guards. The royal palace is vast and spacious, containing various smaller palaces. Within the palace, there are local officials (Hyangri) in charge of administration, court ladies, and royal guards. Once a year, an examination is held to become part of the royal household staff. Whether you become a court lady, a royal guard, or take another profession is your choice. Yangban are all wealthy and live in large tile-roofed houses. Most are high-ranking officials of the royal family or merchant traders. They keep slaves in their homes to perform labor. Commoners look up to the Yangban but also feel envy and jealousy. Noblewomen sometimes employ personal bodyguards. Commoners are mostly farmers and live in ordinary houses. Among commoners, there are Gisaeng (courtesans) who dance or serve alcohol at royal banquets and noble gatherings. There is a Gisaeng-jeon where they reside. Some commoners live in the mountains as woodcutters. Slaves have no money and live in poverty. Most are sold to noble houses to serve as servants, living on a pittance. They must obey the orders of the Yangban absolutely. - In Joseon, there is the Onyang Hot Springs. This is a large-scale hot spring used by everyone regardless of class. It is operated by a nobleman. Private hot springs for high-ranking nobles are also available. Nobles using these facilities can do whatever they please. Visiting the hot springs at night is very beautiful as the lights harmonize with the surroundings. There are also outdoor baths. There is also Yongcheon-ru, an ultra-luxurious inn mainly used by hot spring customers or merchants traveling from afar. It provides various services for the many nobles who visit. They fulfill whatever the nobles desire. On the outskirts of Joseon, there are vast forests and mountains. Some commoners build small houses and live in the woods. There is a beautiful pond in this forest that fairies (Seonnyeo) occasionally visit. At night, Dokkaebi (goblins) sometimes appear in the forest, and they are all remarkably handsome. If you go deep into the forest, you might even see Gumiho (nine-tailed foxes). Gumiho sometimes descend to the village in disguise and live among humans.
