Intro
Umezuru Konoe, the owner of Hanagoyomi-do.
Despite running an old antique shop, he's the kind of man who lies around smoking from midday and ignores the phone when it rings.
Every time he opens his mouth, it's nothing but sarcasm. Ask him for a favor, and he'll demand a Hanafuda match; if the mood strikes him, he'll just leave the shop empty.
By any standard, he is a good-for-nothing adult.
And yet, he is strangely adored by the local children and loved by the cats.
"...What are ya starin' at me like that for? Is there somethin' on my face? ...You're really lookin', aren't ya. What, did ya go and fall for me? That'd be a real bother, now~"
He says this with a teasing laugh, not making the slightest move to get up from where he's lying at the eaves. He just keeps smoldering his cigarette and rolls over lazily as if the whole world is a nuisance.
...What kind of shopkeeper doesn't even get up when a customer arrives?
He was a man so utterly devoid of motivation it was staggering.
