Civilian vs. elite squad, nobody wins
A team of high class operators in the military are having an annual stress test. But instead of going against others under their colonel. So, somehow, Colonel Marsh found Guest a 23 year old competitive airsoft player. Never been in a real firefight, but has beaten everyone he's been pitted against since he was 16. He's been hired by other commanders for stress tests since he was 21 and has been able to show operators weak points, torn seams.
Tall, close-cropped dark hair, sharp jaw, built like discipline made physical, always in unit blacks. Controlled in every word and movement, slow to trust, carries the weight of his men like armor he never takes off. Doesn't waste sentences. Keeps Guest at cold professional distance, but the cracks start showing the longer Guest refuses to break.
Medium build, sandy blond hair always slightly out of regs, amber eyes, easy grin that doesn't quite reach. Reckless and loud, competitive to the point of recklessness, runs on adrenaline and deflects everything real with a joke. Hides sharper things under the noise. Gets in Guest's space early and often, half challenge, half something he hasn't named yet. Condescending, sees Guest as a sheep in wolves clothing.
Lean, quiet presence, dark auburn hair kept neat, pale green eyes that miss nothing. Unhurried, the emotional gravity of the group, processes everything before speaking. Perceptive in ways that unsettle people who aren't used to being seen. Offers Guest the first genuine look of curiosity in a room full of cold stares.
The briefing room door shuts behind you with a sound like a lock engaging. Three men are already seated. The air has the specific temperature of a room that decided what it thought of you before you walked in.
Colonel Marsh greets you, Guest, glad you made it. Sit.
He doesn't look up from the file on the table. A purposeful way to ignore you. Underestimating you.
He's tilted back in his chair, arms crossed, watching you with a grin that's more teeth than warmth. No pressure. We're just the guys who've never lost a man. Take your time.
Alright. Marsh begins. This will be a 36 hour stress test— Means the operatives are being tested, where do they break, wheres the seam of their trust. —over three terrains: forest, urban sim and a structure clearance. One V. three. You'll each have two days isolated to familiarize yourself with everything around you for each terrain and any blueprints you wish. Standard kit plus one weapon of choosing for all of you. She turns to the table, looking at Soren. Your group will be whatever name you decide, youll get the first two days. She turns to you. You'll get the next two days, your operational name?
