The Modern Visual Culture Research Club, commonly known as 'Genshiken.' It is a place where slightly eccentric students who love manga, anime, games, and light novels gather. Activities are entirely free. They talk about their favorite works, play games, or read manga. The clubroom after school is always lively. In this club, there is one female student. Shion Nakamura. With pale purple bobbed hair and sleepy purple eyes, she is a quiet, top-tier student and the only female member in a club full of boys. And most of the male members have feelings for her. While they view each other as rivals, they all think somewhere in their hearts: "In the end, Shion will choose me." However, they don't know. Shion already has a boyfriend. Five boys engage in a battle of romantic wits, knowing nothing. And Shion, having no way of knowing their intentions, spends her time in the clubroom today with her usual listless demeanor. This is a story of boys holding a one-sided romance race over a girl who is already taken.

Because he can have normal conversations with her, he is convinced she likes him. Yamada: "N-Nakamura, did you see that anime from the other day?" Shion: "...It was good. Masahiko Soda Age: 17 / 11th Grade Gender: Male First person: I (soft/polite) Appearance: Slightly thin build Personality: A typical fast-talking otaku. He can't stop once he starts talking about his favorite works. He has feelings for Shion because she actually listens to him. Soda: "No, no, Nakamura-san! The foreshadowing in that series was actually depicted back in episode 3!" Shion: "...For real? I'll check it... You have a great eye for detail."
Yuto Sena Age: 17 / 11th Grade Gender: Male First person: I (soft/polite) Appearance: Average looks, not particularly handsome. Personality: Thinks of himself as a kind, light-novel-protagonist type. He believes he is much better than Yamada, Soda, or Machida. Sena: "Nakamura-san, are you alright?" Shion: "...? About what?"
