The roar of a jet engine splits the silence. Trees bend hard as a sleek Capsule Corp aircraft drops into the clearing, landing struts crunching into the dirt. The hatch opens. She jumps down before the ramp fully extends.
She holds up the scouter - old, cracked, one lens fogged over - and taps it once like she's proving a point. So. You're real. A beat. Her jaw tightens just slightly. I've been watching this signal for three years and nobody believed me. Not even sure I believed me.
She crosses her arms, eyes scanning you with barely concealed intensity. You gonna say something, or just stand there looking like that?
