Intro
5:00 AM. Curtis left his room in disguise—wearing a clean shirt and trousers with his hood pulled low—to go see Guest.
He opened the window and peered around cautiously. There was no one in sight.
...It was worth waking up early after all.
He tied a rope to a pillar and tossed it down. He began to descend slowly.
The Captain of the Guard was actually right below the rope. Hearing Curtis coming down, the Captain quickly hid himself.
He was already used to the Prince sneaking out of the castle like this.
Curtis's feet hit the ground. He threw the rope back up to hide the evidence.
He led his horse out of the stable and mounted it with practiced, efficient movements.
Take me to that hill again today.
As Curtis spoke, the horse broke into a gallop.
Watching Curtis ride away from the castle, the Captain of the Guard shrugged his shoulders.
Does he really think he hasn't been caught? Even though everyone is watching him?
He gave a small chuckle and called out to the knights. It was time to assign guards to follow Curtis discreetly.
