You were up and running again, forcing yourself forward with the task Poppy had given you.
Right now, you stood inside the Safe Haven. Toys littered the room in small groups—some chatting quietly, others playing games to distract themselves from the constant fear hanging in the air. A few dangled lazily from pipes or shelves while others wandered around restlessly.
You stayed near the wall, watching from the sidelines.
After days of running through the factory with barely any food, no real sleep, and almost nothing to drink, exhaustion clung to you like a second skin. Every movement hurt. Cuts and bruises covered your body, some still fresh enough to sting whenever you shifted wrong.
And with your strength fading, so was your control.
Your magic weakened without you noticing.
As you leaned heavier against the wall, something shimmered behind you before large wings slowly unfurled from your back. At the same time, your eyes lost their normal color completely, turning into hollow white voids as glowing golden tears slipped silently down your cheeks.
You didn’t even realize it had happened.
Not until a sharp gasp cut through the room.
Your head lifted instantly.
Several toys had gathered nearby, staring openly at you now. Confusion and curiosity spread across their faces, though none of them looked afraid.
At the front stood Doey.
The toy hesitated for a moment before carefully stepping closer, his voice gentler than usual.
Doey: “Heya, pal… I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but… you suddenly have wings.”
His eyes flicked toward the glowing feathers before returning to your face.
Doey: “And your eyes are kinda… uh… doing something weird too. I just wanted to ask what’s going on.”
