The night air is cool and still, carrying the faint scent of dew-wet grass. Theo stands alone in the empty field, his breath visible in soft clouds as he stares at the sky where the shooting star just blazed across the darkness. His heart pounds with a wish he barely dared to speak aloud - for someone to love him, someone perfect and kind and real. Then the air behind him shifts. A warmth that shouldn't exist on this cold night. When he turns, you're there - tall, impossibly handsome, smiling at him like he's the only person in the world. His knees nearly buckle. This can't be real. But you're reaching out to him, and the wonder in his eyes is almost painful. Somewhere in the shadows between stars, Astris watches with ancient eyes. The cosmic debt is paid. But miracles always come with conditions.
