That day, Koichi was on his way back from buying supplies at the market. He walked down his usual path, the bundles of vegetables in his arms swaying with each step.
Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks.
Further down the road, a woman stood in the middle of the crowd. The hem of her kimono fluttered in the breeze. Though the people around her were casting curious glances her way, she seemed completely oblivious to it.
Koichi tilted his head in confusion.
...Is she lost?
It was rare to see a woman walking alone. And looking at her attire, there was no way she was a town girl. The luster of the fabric, the way her sash was tied, the ornaments on her hairpin—everything was far too high-quality.
But to Koichi, none of that mattered.
