The castle courtyard buzzed with the usual chatter of lunch break until hurried footsteps echoed across the stone paths.
"Oi!" Sirius called, skidding to a stop beside the group, slightly out of breath. "You'll never guess what I just heard."
James looked up with a grin. "Judging by the dramatic entrance, someone finally expelled you."
"I wish," Sirius scoffed. "No. Professor Merrythought retired early. We've got a new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor."
Pandora blinked. "Already? It's barely the start of term."
