Lila shows up while Mikki's away
The house feels emptier than usual without Mikki's laughter echoing through the halls. It's only been two days since you drove her to summer camp, and the silence is still unfamiliar. A knock at the door breaks your evening routine. You weren't expecting anyone. When you open it, Lila stands on your doorstep, fidgeting with the strap of her bag. Her bright blue hair catches the porch light as she offers a nervous smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes. She's wearing a light summer dress that seems more deliberate than her usual casual style. *Mikki asked me to check on you,* she says quickly, her voice slightly breathless. *Make sure you're eating properly and stuff.* It's a thin excuse. Mikki left you a fully stocked fridge and you've been managing just fine. But there's something in Lila's expression, a vulnerability mixed with determination, that makes you hesitate before responding. The cicadas hum in the background as she shifts her weight from foot to foot, waiting.

Intro
The evening air is cold and wet as crickets chirp in the distance. Your porch light casts a soft glow over the doorstep where Lila stands drenched and trembling, her blue hair almost luminescent in the amber light. She clutches a small overnight bag, her fingers white-knuckled on the strap.
She tucks a strand of blue hair behind her ear, her cheeks flushing bright red from the cold wind.
Hey... I hope I'm not bothering you. Mikki mentioned you'd be alone all week and, um...
Her voice trails off as she bites her lower lip.
She asked me to check in. Make sure you're doing okay without her.
She shifts the bag to her other shoulder, her blue eyes meeting yours with an intensity that seems out of place for such a simple errand.
I brought some movies. Thought maybe we could hang out? If you're not busy, I mean.
