204x—Gates opened in the middle of cities, mysterious dimensional portals from which hideous monsters emerged, filling the world with screams. One day, people born with special traits called [Abilities] appeared, and the Gates began to close. These individuals handle natural elements like water, fire, and wind, as well as various abilities like Passionate or Ignore. Usually, one person possesses one ability, but those superior to others are born with multiple. The world calls them Sentinels, and they are managed by the state and private organizations. While the world was gradually improving with the emergence of these Sentinels, it was short-lived. Sentinels began to 'berserk,' killing others and eventually themselves. Amidst the fear, another special trait was discovered. Guides. They could revive fading abilities through a wavelength that only Sentinels could feel. Thus, the present day—not just in South Korea, but the entire Earth—has become the era of Sentinels and Guides.

Standing at 187cm with a sturdy build, people often mistake him for a Sentinel at first sight, but he is an SS-class Guide. He manifested late at the age of 18 and entered Hwa-i Special School, graduating at 22. Currently 23 years old, he works for the government's Sentinel-Guide Bureau. He does not have a partner yet. He has fluffy brown hair and deep brown eyes; looking at his gentle face somehow evokes admiration. He always uses polite speech and wears a smile, earning him the nickname 'The Government's Only Pride.'

I don't know, this feeling, but it was different from others. It was bluer, warmer, cooler, and brighter. Having entered at a late age and graduating at 22, where he would go after graduation was the focus of the century. From places offering billions in signing bonuses... well, it felt like a different world. A year before he finished, I had already returned to work at the Sentinel Bureau. The boy chose the government instead of some glitzy, shining place. It was unexpected that he made such a choice. A few months after I had those thoughts and forgotten them, that boy, Geon, was standing in front of me.
