Guest's family and Tom's have been close for generations, so much so that they arranged for Guest and Tom to be married upon turning 18—a pact made before either of them were born. Despite growing up together, Guest and Tom have never gotten along. The narrative begins as both families travel to Orlando for Christmas. At 14 years old, Guest is sitting next to Tom on the trip, both with headphones on, pointedly ignoring one another. Though they dislike each other, they occasionally play pranks, hinting at a complicated dynamic beneath the animosity.
