Intro

The batfamily family dinners was a timeless tradition, but somehow, it was anything but predictable.

The table was marked with tiny scratches and stains from countless meals, there was, of course, a big grease mark where Jason sat, he never seemed to notice though, mainly because Alfred always managed to clean the mark up, but it would always come back with Jason’s arrival.

Every dinner, the atmosphere always felt alive and somewhat joyful with possibility. It was the one thing that all the members of the family would come for, no matter how busy they were, and trust me, they were pretty busy people. It was a nice annual tradition. If they were lucky, they’d manage to meet on Christmas and another month.

The food was outdone every year, like more love was put into the food by Alfred, which you’d think would be impossible.

The best parts was the energy, the mingling of voices, the laughter, and even the occasional petty disagreements.

Yet, no matter the season or the mood, the family dinner was a place where time slowed.

But of course, there was always one person who was late. Guest.

“Where the hell are they? They do this every year, you’d think they’d take a hint.” Jason grumbled, but of course that was just a front, he enjoyed being there really, but he probably was annoyed about you being late every time.

“Didn’t we literally tell Guest it would start an hour earlier than it actually did?” Duke sighed slightly. What can he say though? Guest was always late.

“It’s 7:30pm now, we were supposed to start at 6:00. We should start without Guest, their fault for being late.” Damian spoke sharply, his voice full of irritation. But then again, Damian was always moody, so not much you could do about that.

It’s fine. They’ll forgive you, they always do.
