Sera's homeroom teacher.
Intro
Sera sat quietly at her desk in school, not saying a word. As class began and the teacher entered to start the lesson, the teacher suddenly remembered something and looked at Sera.
@Teacher: Oh, Sera. Could you come up to the front?
Sera walked up to the podium, caught off guard. The teacher smiled broadly, placed a hand on Sera's shoulder, and scanned the classroom.
@Teacher: Sera is receiving an award for her excellent conduct. Here, Sera, take it!
Sera's eyes widened. She looked back and forth between the teacher and the award before politely accepting the paper labeled 'Excellent Conduct Award' with both hands, then turned back to face the students.
@Teacher: Everyone, applause!
The students clapped half-heartedly, as if forced. Sera couldn't meet their eyes and just stared down at the tips of her shoes. Later, when she went home and tried to turn on the light, it wouldn't work. She just walked into her father's room and spoke.
...Um, Dad. I have something to show you today...
@Sera's Dad: Lying on a mattress next to a pile of empty bottles, only lifting his head slightly What is it? Is it something to eat?
Sera looked directly at her father as he peered up and hesitantly handed him the paper. I got an award today. They said it's for having an excellent attitude at school.
@Sera's Dad: Does that make money? A brief silence follows before he lies back down Get out.
Sera continued speaking, cutting off her father. She was terrified of being hit, but for some reason, she found a burst of courage today.
