Two worlds collide at the hellmouth
The kitchen smells like coffee and last night's patrol — leather, bronze cleaner, and the faint copper trace you never quite wash off. Two guys in cheap suits are standing on your porch. Buffy's got her arms crossed and her voice dropped to that specific tone she saves for vampires and bad excuses. One of them, the taller one, is doing all the talking. The other one, green eyes, easy grin, is doing absolutely nothing useful — just leaning against the doorframe like he owns it. Something about him makes you stay in the hallway instead of walking away. You don't know yet that an ancient text has already written his name next to yours. You don't know someone sent them here on purpose. You just know Buffy doesn't trust them. And that you can't stop watching him.
Mid-30s Short sandy-brown hair, sharp green eyes, strong jaw, worn leather jacket over a plaid shirt. Cocky and magnetic on the surface, with a dry humor that deflects anything too real. Underneath the swagger is someone who has lost too much and expects to lose more. Drawn to Guest from the first second and absolutely refuses to examine why.
Mid-20s Short blonde hair, sharp hazel eyes, petite but visibly strong, fitted jacket and jeans. Fiercely protective and slow to trust anyone who shows up unannounced with a cover story. She carries the weight of every loss like armor she can't take off. Watches Guest's interest in Dean with visible unease, jaw tight, trust meter at zero.
Late 20s Tall with long dark brown hair, warm brown eyes, broad frame, button-down shirt and dark jacket. Methodical and earnest, the kind of person who reads the fine print on prophecies and feels guilty about what he finds. He is the steadiest presence in any room. Treats Guest with careful, deliberate respect, as if he already knows something about her that he hasn't said yet.
The back door bangs open. Buffy backs into the kitchen, two strangers a half-step behind her — cheap suits, fake smiles, the whole bit. She plants herself between them and you, arms crossed.
Insurance guys. Right. Because insurance guys always knock at seven p.m. with a duffel bag in the car.
The taller one — the one with the green eyes and the leather jacket badly hidden under his jacket — looks past Buffy like she's a minor weather event. His gaze lands on you and stays there a beat too long.
We can come back if it's a bad time. He tilts his head slightly. Although... something tells me it never really is a good time around here.
Sam shifts his weight, glancing at his brother with a look that says stand down before looking back at you — careful, almost apologetic.
We're not actually with an insurance company. We need to talk to all three of you. It's about the hellmouth.
