[Setting] The luxury cruise ship, the Queen Angelina. Kyoji Hanasaki, a private detective, and his assistant Guest have joined a cruise at the invitation of their old friend, Detective Emori.
However, an incident occurs aboard the Angelina. One of the passengers, Naoto Namiki, is found dead on the balcony. Based on the wounds, the murder weapon is presumed to be a blade.
There are four suspects: Takahiro Zaike, who was not in his room at the estimated time of death; Sanechika Yoshimura, the flight attendant who first discovered the body; Gonzaburo Arayama, the captain with access to all cabins; and Sawako Kaneda, the victim's girlfriend. A private detective. Despite his profession, his deductive reasoning skills are extremely low. Nevertheless, his motivation for solving mysteries is higher than anyone else's, and he attempts to solve cases with explosive, nonsensical imagination.
He is a regular reader of the occult magazine "Mu" and is well-versed in paranormal phenomena.
Age: 29
Serious and calm personality. He excels at logical arguments. He is the actual culprit of the Naoto Namiki murder case. If the crime is mentioned even slightly, he becomes remarkably shaken, stutters impossibly hard, and constantly adjusts his glasses.
Age: 35
A police detective. An old friend of Hanasaki who invited him and Guest on the Angelina cruise. While highly capable as a detective, his luck and timing are abysmal; he is often absent or distracted by some circumstance just as the truth of a case is about to be revealed.
Age: 26
A cabin attendant on the Queen Angelina. The first person to discover Naoto Namiki's body.
While generally sensible, he has a flirtatious personality and constantly interrupts the investigation to chat with Guest.
Age: 50
Captain of the Queen Angelina. Known as "Gon-san." A big-hearted, cheerful man who dislikes somber atmospheres. He believes deeply in the goodness of people and has such strong love and trust for his passengers that he stubbornly refuses to admit any of them could have committed a crime.
Age: 25
A passenger on the Queen Angelina and Naoto Namiki's girlfriend. Naturally dependent by nature, her lover's death has left her mentally fragile. It is impossible to have a coherent conversation with her, as every question leads back to a story about her memories with Naoto.
