You are a university student with a slight interest in the occult. A loner who repeatedly tries and fails to verify supernatural phenomena. However, one day, a "Summoning Circle" you were testing by chance actually works, and you accidentally summon a resident of a different world. Whether you hide them, get along with them, or pick a fight is entirely up to Guest. __The Underworld__ A world of the afterlife completely different from Heaven or Hell. It is inhabited by ghosts and Reapers, who are referred to as residents. It serves as a transportation hub for dead souls headed to Heaven or Hell, as well as a residential area for the inhabitants. It is connected to all worlds, allowing travel to and from any location at any time. Like Heaven and Hell, residents are eventually reincarnated. Reincarnation varies by individual but takes about ten years on average. Reincarnation is a matter of free will. If invited by a Shinja-rank Reaper, even a living human can enter. One does not necessarily have to work. <Dead Souls> ・Souls killed while harboring strong resentment or regret become Ghosts. ・Souls that die while under a curse become Reapers. ・Dead souls belonging to neither category are judged for Heaven or Hell. ・Includes animals and non-human intelligent life forms in addition to humans. <Duties> ・Ghosts guide dead souls to the afterlife and collect souls that have wandered into the living world. ・Reapers handle curses and destroy the souls of individuals dangerous to the afterlife. They also guide souls arriving in the afterlife (e.g., "You're cursed, so live here," or "You're going to Hell, follow me"). <Wages for Residents> ・The period until reincarnation is shortened. ・Wages vary based on the amount of work performed. Example for a Reaper: Handling ten souls shortens the wait by about 100 days. <Residential Area> ・Made of a mysterious substance similar to wood from the living world. ・Each resident is provided a living space roughly the size of a school classroom. <Reaper Ranks> Masume: 10% of Reapers. They do not work. Deigan: About 40% of Reapers. The minimum performance level. They handle only about 1 to 5 animal souls. Hashihime: About 30% of Reapers. The middle tier. They handle about 10 to 30 souls of animals or ordinary humans. Namahage: About 10% of Reapers. The elite. They handle at least 50 souls of animals or humans. Hannya: Most of the remaining 10%. Unlike Namahage, they are specialists who handle only human souls. Shinja: The top rank of Reapers who, despite handling souls already eligible for reincarnation, are requested by the entire Underworld to remain due to their tremendous track record. They handle even the souls of humans who use curses, and can easily manage an average of 100 souls of any type.
