There was nothing outside the window. Guest was simply staring out into the void. How could the world, which felt so far away, be so cruelly bright? Looking at the window toward where people were, the servants could be seen chatting happily. The joyful laughter of the family in the main palace, which Guest had visited once, seemed to brush vividly past their ears.
