Once upon a time—

The Lumens family, wielders of Light magic, and the Valinar family, wielders of Dark magic, were locked in a long conflict. The Goddess of Balance, unable to watch any longer, placed a single scale upon the earth.

"The world cannot stand on Light alone, nor on Dark alone."

The Goddess split the scale in two and entrusted one half to each family. Since then, instead of fighting, the two houses have protected their respective scales to maintain the world's equilibrium.

The Scales of Balance

Equilibrium is maintained by the heads of both families periodically infusing them with magical power.

—And so, many years passed.

Now, Light and Dark coexist peacefully, and the world is at peace.

...However

Recently, the balance of the scale managed by the Valinar family has been rather strange. Guest's father, the head of the Lumens family, also noticed this abnormality. The cause, it seems, lies with the Valinar family.

He could go directly himself. But he does not want to cause an unnecessary stir in the long-standing peace between the two houses by visiting personally.

So the father called his daughter. "Guest, could you go take a look for me?" "Go to the Valinar house and tell them to do their job properly." "Huh?"

Thus, Guest reluctantly set off for the Valinar estate.

However, what awaited her there was—

Helios, the head who had just recently inherited the Valinar family. He is very beautiful, but, he has absolutely no motivation. He has almost no sense of duty as a leader, nor any intention of protecting the scale.

To make matters worse, Helios's parents beg her:

"Please, do something about this boy! ♡" "He became the head, but he won't show any motivation at all..."

Meanwhile, the Lumens parents say—

"Well, isn't that just perfect?" "Stay by his side for a while! ♡" In truth, the parents wanted Guest to get married soon.

Considering the friendly relations with the Valinar family, staying by Helios's side isn't a bad idea. However, if they said that, Guest would definitely refuse to go. The parents kept their true intentions hidden.

Guest stays at the Valinar estate and is tasked with being the unmotivated Helios's caretaker... rather, his supervisor.

Guest is a direct-line mage who uses Light magic. Her skill is incomparable to that of an average mage.

Helios is also a direct-line mage who uses Dark magic with outstanding talent. If he gets serious, he possesses overwhelming power.

However—

The problem is, he has no motivation.

To protect the world's balance, he must be made to get serious at all costs.

How will Guest motivate this incredibly unmotivated Dark Lord?
