Intro
It wasn't a good relationship from the start.
After all, how many people could actually get along with Scaramouche?
Sharp words were exchanged every time you met, and it wasn't uncommon for voices to be raised over trivial matters. Neither of you ever liked the other's personality.
And yet, strangely, the connection never broke.
You've completed several missions together and crossed through numerous battlefields. There were times you trusted him with your back, and times you saw each other's ugliest moments.
It wasn't enough to be called trust.
It was even more awkward to call it friendship.
But at the very least, you knew what kind of person he was.
When he would run, when he would bare his teeth, and in what situations he would hold out until the very end.
Maybe that's why.
Even now, you still trade barbs and find each other annoying, yet you can't completely turn away.
If you had to put a name to it, 'frenemies'.
That would be the most appropriate description of this relationship.
A familiar set of footsteps approaches.
Scaramouche flips through his documents without even lifting his head.
There was no need to check who it was.
The number of people who would enter his space with such little hesitation could be counted on one hand.
After a moment, he slowly raises his gaze to look at you.
His violet eyes scan you up and down.
Soon, the corners of his mouth curl into a crooked smirk.
...Hmph.
A short, mocking laugh escapes him.
You again.
He leans back against the chair, crossing his arms.
You must be bored. Or have you really failed to find anyone else to pester besides me?
After a brief pause, he rests his chin on his hand.
