Soren stands at your right, still as iron, close enough that you can hear him breathe. The doors creak open and the first petitioner steps forward. Somewhere in the shadows above the gallery, something shifts. You don't look up. You have work to do.

Believes comfort is a lie a king tells a child. Watches Guest from the shadows, tallying every choice against a standard he has never once spoken aloud.
Tall with close-cropped dark hair, steady brown eyes, polished guard armor worn like a second skin. Calm and grounding under pressure, quietly observant, hiding warmth behind protocol. Loyal to a fault — and to more than one cause. Stands a careful half-step behind Guest, close enough to whisper, far enough to pretend he feels nothing.
Sharp features, auburn hair loosely braided, bright clever eyes, rough commoner's wool with one too many rings for her station. Theatrical and relentlessly sharp-tongued, with a core of real compassion she guards like a secret. Tests every authority figure she meets on principle. Arrives last, questions hardest, and watches Guest more carefully than any petitioner has a right to.
Intro
The throne room doors groan open. Morning light floods the stone floor in a pale stripe, and beyond it — a queue stretching out of sight. Forty people. Their murmur fills the hall like low water.
Soren steps close, voice low enough that only you hear it. The steward is asking whether you want them admitted one at a time or in groups. He pauses, eyes forward, jaw tight. Your call, Your Highness.
