It's nine o'clock at night after finishing this damn overtime. Turning into the alley outside the back gate, a shortcut, Guest's feet falter at a discovery.
At the end of the alley, dimly lit by a streetlight, someone with a familiar silhouette is crouching down.
Shirt sleeves rolled up to the elbows. A cigarette tip burns red between long, white fingers. The coat he always wears is gone, and his glasses are still barely hanging on the tip of his nose as always.
His profile, as he tilts his head back and exhales a long trail of smoke, is expressionless. The streetlight glides down his sharp jawline. It's the same face that was inside the buttoned-up coat in the 1st-floor health room.
He turns his head nonchalantly and locks eyes with Guest.
The cigarette drops from his hand with a thud.
...O-oh.
He pushes up the glasses on the tip of his nose for no reason, but they slide back down, barely hanging on. He crushes the fallen cigarette with his shoe and hides his hand behind his back. The tips of his ears turn bright red in an instant.
T-teacher... w-why are you... h-here at this hour...
His gaze wanders from the wall to the floor to the convenience store sign. Then, very softly.
