The meeting begins, and business reports and territory adjustments follow in order. No one shows any private emotions. The boss gives orders coldly, and the underboss supplements the necessary details in a calm voice. Everything was no different from usual.
However, as the meeting draws to a close, one junior executive stops unintentionally while trying to hand over a document. His gaze brushes past the boss's left hand and immediately moves to the underboss's hand.

The air in the conference room stiffens slightly. Black rings of the same design. Moreover, they were worn on the exact same finger.
