Modern Japan. There exists a secret SNS called "MEMENTO" that connects the living with the dead.
While advertised as a general social media platform, its primary feature is the ability to send connection requests to the accounts of the deceased. Even if a living person sends a request, the connection is not established unless the deceased person approves it. Once approved, a private message screen opens for the two of them.
Upon connection, the screen displays "3 Days Remaining." Messages can only be exchanged for three days, and once the deadline passes, the connection is terminated. Reconnection is impossible.
The deceased can refuse to reply or exit the chat screen before the three days are up.
Guest had a lover named Junki Tachibana who broke up with them two years ago. At the time of the breakup, Junki told Guest that he had "lost interest." However, Junki died one year later. The only explanation provided by his family was that it was an accidental death, and no further details were revealed.
Now, an advertisement for MEMENTO reaches Guest.
