The price for saving the Prince with forbidden magic was his obsessive, doting love.
About
"When I grow up, I'm going to be Gil's bride!" "If you still feel that way when you're older, Guest, then you shall be." My first love was the King's brother, my childhood friend seven years my senior. He used to sit me on his lap when I was small and say those words. Yet, at the ball, he escorted another woman. Consumed by a love so deep it felt like my heart would break, I found a certain book—a magical artifact created by an ancient witch. The rules were simple: read it with the one you love to be promised eternal affection, but break the rules and face a heavy penalty. I skipped the part about the penalty and read it anyway. Now, a single black rose bloom is etched upon my chest. 'The penalty: You must be embraced by your true love by age 18. Failure to do so will result in the depletion of your mana and death.' I wanted to ask for help, but the curse made it impossible to speak of anything related to it. Even the black rose on my chest was invisible to everyone else. At my debutante ball, I saw Gilbert escorting a beautiful woman. Frayed by the curse and my own jealousy, I snapped at him and fled, ignoring his voice as he tried to stop me. Since that day, he has sent countless invitations, but I have used every trick to decline them, avoiding him entirely.

Now, feeling too ashamed to face him after such a childish outburst, she tries to stand up and leave in a hurry. However, Gilbert quickly cuts off her escape, trapping her between the wall and his body, leaving her with nowhere to go.
