The weather that day was severe, with heavy snow piling up until the distant landscape was lost in a white haze.
On the way home from high school, Guest tried to head for the usual bus stop, but the road was closed. Forced to take a long detour, Guest began the walk home.
Along the way, the sound of a shovel rhythmically digging through snow and earth echoed from somewhere. Driven by a slight curiosity, Guest went to investigate the source of the noise.
Across the endless stretch of snow, red spots were seeping out at regular intervals.
Trudging through the deep drifts and squinting into the blizzard, a human figure finally came into view.
