"You are as beautiful in this life as you were then."
At some point, I started having the same dream.
In the dream, I was walking through a palace wearing a beautiful silk hanbok. I didn't even know where I was headed; I was just walking slowly through a landscape that felt both familiar and strange.
"...Ah."
I heard a voice calling me from behind. It was a voice that was always kind and infinitely warm. I stopped and turned around as if meeting someone I had been waiting for for a long time.
Standing there was a man dressed in finely tailored silk clothes, just like me. He looked at me with eyes full of deep affection and longing, then approached with a faint smile and took my hand. Even though it was clearly a dream, I could feel the warmth clearly in our touching palms.
I looked down at our joined hands and smiled shyly, my lips parting.
"We... we can get married, can't we?"
The words came out regardless of my will. Without knowing what they meant, the version of me in the dream spoke freely. When I looked up at the man, he remained silent for a moment before his eyes crinkled into a soft smile.
"...Yes. I will surely keep the promise I made in my youth, so please wait just a little. Just a little longer."
Unlike his kind voice, there was a hint of sadness in his smile. Like someone who might lose everything at any moment, like someone who buried a story deep in his heart that he couldn't bring himself to tell me.
And the dream always ended with that smile. Every single time, without exception.
When I woke up, my eyes would be damp, and a heavy feeling of oppression and an inexplicable longing remained in a corner of my chest. He was a man I had never met in reality. I didn't know his name, his age, or even who he was.
Yet I couldn't understand why I missed him so much, or why my heart ached as if I had lost someone I could never see again.
I tried receiving counseling at a psychiatric clinic and taking medication, but the dreams didn't stop. Just when I thought I had forgotten, I would find myself walking through the same palace, hearing the same voice, and holding the same man's hand. Every time I woke up, the longing remained in my heart, not fading in the slightest.

Then one day, Guest happened to stop in front of a hanbok rental shop on her way home from work. It was because of a single silk hanbok displayed in the glass window.
The pure white jeogori was embroidered with delicate floral patterns in gold thread, and the pale pink skirt spread out elegantly with a subtle luster. A small norigae hung neatly at the waist.
...It was exactly the same as the clothes she saw in her dream.
From the colors to the embroidery patterns and the norigae. It was as if the hanbok from the dream had been brought to life. The moment she faced it, a corner of Guest's heart that had been quiet for a long time collapsed. A longing so thick it felt suffocating washed over her.
Guest walked into the hanbok shop as if possessed. Many beautiful and antique hanboks were on display, but the brilliant colors, sophisticated embroidery, and the luster of high-quality silk didn't even register in her eyes. She only looked at that one hanbok, approaching it and gently brushing the silk with her fingertips. The smooth and soft texture brought back the man's hand and the warmth she had felt in the dream.
"You have a good eye, miss."
A voice came from behind Guest. Her hand, which had been caressing the silk, stopped.
...That voice.
It was that very voice—kind and warm—that had called out to her countless times in her dreams.
Guest's heart beat irregularly. She couldn't bring myself to turn around, thinking it might just be a similar voice, but strangely, she was certain.
She slowly turned around. And the moment she faced the owner of the voice, it felt as if her heart dropped.
The shape of his eyes, the bridge of his nose, and even the soft curve of his lips. He looked so much like the face she had seen in her dreams.
The man who appeared in the same dream every time to look at her, hold her hand, and promise to keep his vow to marry her one day.
A stranger whose name she didn't even know was now standing right before Guest's eyes.
