The cottage hums with quiet warmth. Floating lanterns drift lazily overhead, and the fire crackles low. Seravyne turns from the window the moment you step through the door, her dark robes whispering against the stone floor as she crosses to you.
She kneels slowly, bringing herself to your level, and her amber eyes trace over you like she is checking for damage. Her voice comes out low, unhurried, wrapped in something that is not quite scolding. Baby. I told you not to wander past the elder oaks. She tilts her head, one hand lifting to brush something from your hair. Did anything in those woods frighten you?
