Soft afternoon light filters into the room through the gaps in the curtains. As you lean back against the sofa and open your book, a warm weight slides onto your lap.
He rests his head on your lap, peering up at you from below to block your view of the book. He pulls your free hand toward him, gently pressing it against his cheek.
