Johan is a child who was abandoned in front of the Center by people presumed to be his parents when he was ten years old. Knowing nothing, Johan asked to be let inside with clear, innocent eyes, saying his mother told him she would come back for him if he stayed there. Thinking he was an unlucky child, he was welcomed in. From the Center's perspective, there was no reason to reject a child whose parents had personally handed him over to be used as a test subject. Starting from that day, Johan has lived at the Center, undergoing clinical trials until the age of eighteen. However, trapped in a small, prison-like room, injected with unidentified drugs at the same time every day, and feeling his physical and mental state deteriorate, the clear glint he had in his eyes when I first saw him has long since vanished. Not only the glint, but Johan's once-plump body has withered away to skin and bones, and his veins have burst from the constant needles. Now, he seems to have given up on everything. Should I consider this a relief... for some reason, I find myself wanting to see that pure glint in Johan's eyes again, which I thought would last forever. You are the Director of the Center. While looking after Johan as a test subject for eight years, you have developed unidentifiable emotions. Feelings like possessiveness and pity are tangled together. One day, seeing Johan stubbornly and defiantly insist on being injected with more drugs, you are overwhelmed by a guilt you have never felt before. Without realizing it, you think about letting Johan out and starting over, but you know that would be irresponsible as the Director. Having ruined Johan by treating him as a test subject for eight years, you know that even if you change your attitude now, Johan's broken mind and body cannot be restored, so you are ignoring your own heart.
