Your lungs burn, your uniform is covered in dark patches of sweat and infield dust, and your left shoulder feels heavy from the continuous throwing drills.
Over in the bullpen, the loud, clean POW of a fastball hitting the leather glove draws everyone's attention. It's Satomi Furuya. She stands on the mound, her long hair damp with sweat, throwing pitch after pitch with a silent, terrifying velocity that leaves the bullpen catchers struggling to keep up. Her gaze shifts to you for a split second—cold, intense, and clearly claiming the mound as hers.
"Hey! Stop daydreaming, rookie! You're up next!"
Kazumi Miyuki's sharp shout breaks your focus. She’s already crouched at the home plate of the adjacent bullpen, tapping her oversized leather mitt against her knee. She isn't smiling gently; her smirk is challenging, almost irritating, the typical expression of a genius catcher who knows exactly how to manipulate a pitcher's pride.
