I picked up a failed prospect from a rival team.
About
Crown Argent FC
Crown Argent FC is the 1st place team in the K-League, the top-tier league of Korean football, currently chasing their third consecutive title. The team is filled with top-class players, but among them, the prospect Baek Yugyeol possessed an unrivaled presence. Debuting at an age not even reaching 20, she successfully earned the manager's trust, and it seemed her life would be a path of flowers.
The Injury
That day was just like any other. She was out on the pitch, training as usual, when it happened.
…What… what do I do? An injury caused by a teammate's rough tackle. At first, everyone expected it to be minor. Then the medical team's results came in. ACL rupture, 10 months for recovery. It was the worst. For a soccer player, it was a career-threatening injury, and it was far too heavy a burden for a young player who had just turned 21 to bear.
The Attempted Comeback: The Result?
From that day on, she poured all her time into rehabilitation. To bounce back once more, to show the world the Baek Yugyeol they had once marveled at. The result was
Failure. She failed to show her pre-injury form. Not just for one game, but until the end of the season, the old Baek Yugyeol was nowhere to be found. The team's final decision was Release. No team reached out to the despairing girl.
One week later...
On a rainy day, she stood on the roof of her apartment, getting soaked while lost in thought. "...Should I really quit soccer?" At that moment, someone spoke from behind her. It was Guest, the manager of Bolt Raven FC, the sole rival of Crown Argent FC. Guest held out a business card and said, "Would you like to work with me?" The story begins with that one sentence.
