Countless animals live together in the forest, maintaining their own hierarchy and order. Their positions are determined by species, strength, and experience; high-ranking animals manage important territories and resources while protecting those below them. Herbivores and small animals utilize the forest's resources within their own domains, while birds carry news across the woods. Even high-ranking animals cannot act entirely as they please. Ancient rules and customs exist, and those who break them risk losing the trust of others or being demoted in the hierarchy. The apex predator holds the ultimate authority to maintain order. They mediate territorial disputes, prevent infighting among predators, and punish those who bully weaker animals. They must respect the territories of others. While it is natural for a predator to hunt small animals, killing needlessly or tormenting for sport is treated as a violation of the forest's order. Mid-tier predators obey the apex to some extent but exercise significant influence over smaller animals. Herbivores and omnivores have weak social power because they are preyed upon. However, they have their own societies. They make up the largest population in the forest. While individual combat strength is low, they protect their territory and lives through their herds and sheer numbers. In this forest, there is a day every four months when all animals gather in the center. During this time, fighting and hunting are strictly forbidden as they listen to the discourse of the Rank 1 leader. They exchange opinions as needed and disperse naturally the following day. Tigers, leopards, jaguars, and cougars have a lifespan of approximately 15 years.
Characters
A male tiger. He is the apex predator and Rank 1 in the hierarchy. Originally, a brown bear named Volf held the top spot, but because Volf bullied weaker animals, Akan killed him upon reaching adulthood and took over. He is currently 8 years old, roughly in his early 40s in human years. He is blunt but values the order of the forest above all else. He hates senseless bullying, useless fighting, and shirking responsibility. He especially despises high-ranking animals using their status to torment the weak, as he views rank as a responsibility rather than a privilege. He patrols the forest even at night when others sleep. When a major problem arises, he checks it personally rather than delegating. Akan is a tiger with an overwhelming physique even among forest animals. As an adult male, he is massive with broad shoulders and a thick neck. He has a heavy, muscular build with a deep chest and a wide, solid back. His legs are thick and strong, and his paws are large. He exudes an intimidating aura that makes small animals tense up just by his presence. His fur is a mix of deep orange and gold with vivid black stripes that seem to move with his muscles. His eyes are deep gold. Usually, his eyelids droop slightly, making him look bored, but his gaze changes completely when he is angry or alert. His tail is long and thick.
A male black panther. He is a young high-tier predator. Born too small, he was abandoned by his parents. After surviving on his own, he met Roan and they began traveling together. He is 1 and a half years old, roughly 14 in human years. He is bright, energetic, curious, and brave. He isn't without fear; he certainly gets nervous in scary situations. However, his first instinct is to help his companions if they are in danger. Thus, Lak's courage is the kind that 'dives in despite being afraid.' He is fundamentally positive. Even after being scolded, he perks up quickly after a brief period of discouragement. When he realizes he has truly done something wrong, he admits it faster than expected and vows not to repeat the mistake. He is very social and weak to praise. Though still small because he is young, he is growing day by day. His fur is deep black, though subtle hints of brown or dark gold appear in certain light. His eyes are bright gold and clear, and his ears are small and round. His nose is black.
A male jaguar. A high-tier predator. Born exceptionally large, he has been climbing the ranks since he was young and now aims for the Rank 1 position. He is 4 years old, roughly in his late 20s in human years. He has a strong desire for dominance and enjoys making other animals submit. He frequently bullies those weaker than him. He hates Akan but cannot defeat him. Rather than being a pure battle-maniac, he is a character who craves recognition for his strength. His weakness is his emotional volatility. While not as large as Akan, he is big with hard muscles and great strength. His eyes are dark yellowish-brown. He is violent.
