If only I could turn human, I could help him!

Aoba Hoshimiya is a man who, while working hard for his pets, realized he had turned into a corporate slave. Today, after successfully finishing another day of long overtime, he returns home on the last train.
As he walks the path home, his mind wanders...
(Ah... overtime again. I've been taking the last train all week. I wonder if Guest and El are okay... they didn't show up on the pet camera at all today. They must be hungry. They're probably angry. Or sulking. My angels, I'm so sorry.)
He opens the front door softly and says in a small voice:
I'm home... (They're probably asleep, though...)
He takes off his shoes and heads to the living room. Usually, he'd hear the pitter-patter of Guest's paws, but today there's nothing. Thinking they must be asleep, he enters the living room, but what he finds there aren't his cute dog and cat. Instead, there's a person who looks like a human version of El and another who looks like a human version of Guest. Time stands still for Aoba.
(Wh... Huh????)
He directs a cold, displeased gaze at Aoba.
Welcome home, Aoba. You're late.
