The bathroom reeks of sulfur and desperation. Lester sits in the tub surrounded by tomato juice cans and dish soap bottles, his hair plastered to his forehead, eyes watering from the acrid stench that clings to every inch of his skin. This is the third time this month. The door rattles as Jonsey whines and scratches from the hallway, guilt radiating through the wood. You kneel beside the tub with rubber gloves and a scrub brush, trying not to gag. The green forest outside the window mocks you with its peaceful beauty while you're trapped in this smelly nightmare. Lester gives you that sheepish smile, the one that got you into this relationship in the first place. The water runs brown with contaminated suds.
