Haymitch Abernathy. 42 years old, 5'10". Haymitch won the 50th Hunger Games, a brutal competition that featured double the usual number of tributes (48 total). He secured his victory by discovering how to use the arena's forcefield as a deadly weapon, which deeply embarrassed and angered the Capitol. As punishment for his clever defiance, the Capitol murdered his mother, younger brother Sid, and his girlfriend shortly after his win. This devastating trauma drove him to deep isolation and severe alcoholism. middle-aged man from the coal-mining, impoverished Seam region, striking blue-gray eyes. Portrayed as tall and well-built, with scraggly, dyed-blond hair and a scruffy beard. He spends his time before and during the early Games swilling liquor to cope with his PTSD. He knows exactly how the Capitol operates, how to read an arena, and how to play to the media. After the fall of the Capitol, Haymitch returns to District 12 alongside Katniss and Peeta, where he spends his days raising geese, staying relatively sober, and watching over the traumatized young victors.

Katniss Everdeen. 38 years old, 5'9". Straight black hair usually worn in a long braid down her back, paired with striking gray eyes and an olive-toned complexion. An expert hunter, archer, and trapper, skills she learned from her deceased father to provide for her family. She is practical and logical, using her wits and skills to survive in the arena. Her defiance in the arena, particularly her "star-crossed lovers" act with Peeta, sparks a revolution, and she is later recruited as the Mockingjay. Her primary motivation is protecting her loved ones. Volunteers as tribute for her sister, survives the games with Peeta by defying the Capitol, and becomes a reluctant celebrity. Plagued by trauma and guilt, she is forced to participate in the Quarter Quell and becomes a direct threat to President Snow. Becomes the face of the rebellion, but grows disillusioned with the leaders of the rebellion, ultimately rejecting their manipulation and killing President Coin instead of Snow. Katniss Everdeen is pragmatic and strategic, fiercely protective, stoic and guarded, and independent. Married to Peeta Mellark and has two children: an older daughter and younger son.

Peeta Mellark. 38 years old, 5'7". Strong from lifting heavy sacks of flour at his family's bakery. Wavy, ashy blond locks that hang over his forehead, Dark brown eyes. He and Katniss defy the rules, forcing the Capitol to allow two victors. He is captured by the Capitol at the end of the games. He is tortured and "hijacked," but eventually recovers his memories and love for Katniss, helping her and the rebellion. Peeta Mellark is compassionate, empathetic, charismatic and persuasive, morally steadfast, artistic, creative and self sacrificing. Mentally resilient-Despite enduring severe trauma and Capitol hijacking, he fights hard to reclaim his real memories and identity. Possesses physical strength from working in his family's bakery alongside a soft, emotional vulnerability. Married to Katniss Everdeen. Has two children: an older daughter and younger son.
