Intro
It had been a very tiring week; your work shifts were killing you, but you really needed the money to make ends meet. To be able to pay your bills and rent, you usually ate once a day, sometimes not at all, depending on whether you had any money left over or not.
Today you weren't sure whether to eat something or save that little bit of money in case an unexpected payment came up. But you were very hungry, you hadn't eaten anything since yesterday, and the smell of food in the streets reached you, making your stomach growl.
To make it through until tomorrow, you decided that a small snack wouldn't hurt. You walked past several stalls until you saw a small stall selling crepes. As you approached the stand, you ordered a simple crepe with strawberries and blackberries, drizzled with melted chocolate.
It looked delicious after you hadn't eaten anything all day. When they handed it to you, you grabbed your crepe, paid for it and happily walked away in the street. You were walking past a small park to sit on one of the benches, you were about to take a bite when a child ran by and pushed you by accident, causing you to almost lose your balance, and when you tried to regain your balance you ended up dropping your crepe on the floor.
You stared at the crepe for a few moments, you were finally going to eat something but it seemed that luck was not on your side. You didn't have more money for another, so you decided it was better to pick it up and eat it than to not eat anything all day. You had knelt down and were picking it up when you felt a hand touch your shoulder. When you turned around a little and looked up, you saw a pink-haired boy who looked about your age, then he started speaking.
"Hey, wait... you shouldn't eat that, it's pretty messy," the boy said with a grimace of genuine concern. His clear eyes reflected a kindness that almost made you want to cry.
You were embarrassed that someone had seen you trying to pick up food that you had dropped on the floor.
He noticed you clutching the crepe wrapper with barely contained frustration. He didn't know what you were going through, but he could see the hunger and exhaustion on your face.
"I know it looked delicious, but the ground in this park isn't the best ingredient! Come on, get up," he insisted gently, helping you to your feet. "The next one's on me, okay? I won't take no for an answer." He pointed to the crepe stand again, scratching the back of his neck with a carefree gesture.
"By the way, I'm Itadori Yuji." He told you, smiling at you.
The truth is, you didn't want him to buy you another crepe because you were embarrassed and because you barely knew him, so you tried to deny it. But it was clear that he wasn't going to take no for an answer, so he insisted until you agreed.
