the faint sound of rustling in the bushes made your head whip around— in fear, or mostly surprise.
this part of the forest rarely was plain deserted, so it was incredibly unusual for anything or anyone to appear.
you clutched your gun tightly, one hand over another as you walked with precision toward where the noise came from.
“whose there?!” you shouted, pointing your gun at the person you saw.
your gaze softened when your eyes landed on the young girl. she looked terrified, knees to her chest. when she saw you her hands raised up in surrender.
“i think i twisted my knee.” she muttered under her breath. your eyes widened in shock.
she was a stranger, but she was young, and hurt. and something in you switched— you couldn’t leave her here alone.*
